Transylvania University has recently formed a Transportation Committee to investigate and address issues relating to transportation that include, but are not limited to, having cars on campus, parking lots, and parking pass prices. Regarding the latter, the Transportation Committee has proposed implementing a very drastic increase in parking pass prices from their current price at $35 to at least a 200% increase for all classes. The Transylvania University Student Government Association issued a resolution stating its fervent opposition to any price hike, but if it were to happen, to limit it to only a 12% increase per year. Please sign this petition to show the Administration that the Student Body is against this proposed change!

A driving (no pun intended) factor for admissions is the fact that first-year students can park on campus at a very affordable price. Administration must keep in mind the 2020 plan.

This is a bidding game. Those who can afford the higher prices will park on campus and those who can't will be "driven" further away to park. With a decrease in availible parking and an increase in the price to park, the school is taking full advantage of "supply and demand" economics in a rediculous way.

Considering the price of tuition, room, and board, it seems rather ridiculous to expect us to pay so much for something like a parking pass. Furthermore, $35 to $75-150 is quite a price difference.

I would like to know what the money would go towards. Also, this presentation of such a drastic change typically precedes the presentation of a lesser change with the overall goal of tricking one into "compromising" when the second option is what is truly pushed. As those directly affected by this change, we should receive some answers soon.

For the education students that have to have a car to drive to schools to teacher, this kills us because without a car it is almost impossible to get our required observing hours accomplished.

If the goal is to reduce the number of cars on campus, the Transportation Committee should think about incentivizing the program rather than punishing students who genuinely need to have a car on campus.
