Funding should come from somewhere else. Some of Transy's parking lots aren't even safe, why would students want to pay even more for them?

We don't need the parking passes to get higher.

This is a bidding game. Those who can afford the higher prices will park on campus and those who can't will be "driven" further away to park. With a decrease in availible parking and an increase in the price to park, the school is taking full advantage of "supply and demand" economics in a rediculous way.

Due to the very limited amount of safe parking that we currently have available for students, I think it is outlandish to ask parents and students to pay a more than 200% increase in able to park their cars. If Transylvania were to provide us with a sheltered and well monitored parking garage than that would be more reasonable reason for a slight increase. If the school needs to obtain more funds than they should start by looking at the money they are currently wasting and find ways to reduce. For example, they should take a look at the crazy amount of money we spend on lawn care each year (after scholarships and salaries it is supposedly the third most expensive thing in our budget) . Secondly, from an admissions standpoint one of the biggest perks of coming to a small school is being able to bring your car at an affordable price. If this is taken away our school will lose a very important competitive advantage.

This is over a 400% increase, and absolutely ridiculous for such a small school with limited parking as it is. I completely agree with the comments regarding the 2020 plan and small incremental price increases. Parking price was a huge factor in my decision to attend Transy. There will not be many first-years or even upperclassmen that will pay the increased prices when just a year before they were so much cheaper. Increase the price, decrease demand and revenue.

Having a car and the money to keep up with repairs and pay for gas is expensive enough. Many students don't have cars for this reason. Having a car is a privilege many cannot afford. Increasing parking makes driving something an even fewer number of already privileged students can do. Why should only those who are wealthy enough to afford both a car AND a $150 parking pass have the right to park on campus? Transy already alienates its students of a lower socioeconomic status.

This university is already making it hard to afford an education here for families that are not as financially stable as others. This would only make things worse.
