I've never understood why tryouts for the upcoming year were held before the current season was over? Whatever cohesiveness the team had all season long completely falls apart after teams are pulled in different directions. And all of this happens before Regionals and Nationals! Maddness! Other states (Iowa, for one) holds club tryouts in the fall with the season beginning in November. It makes perfect sense! HOA should take note.

Yes, please stop. My daughters were visiting their grandmother last summer in Arizona. While out there I signed them up with s volleyball team to keep them busy. Taking to other parents they don't even talk about the next year till November tryouts. The team is Aspire and they have a good reputation in the area and play on the National and Open level. We don't have to subject to this low down gutter mentally. It is very disrespectful to everyone.

I've never understood why tryouts were in the spring while the season was still in full force. Why not wait until August-Sept-Oct to hold tryouts? The club season doesn't officially start until Nov anyways. Other states hold tryouts in Oct and then the season starts in Nov. Makes perfect sense!

No one, not the club owners, not the coaches or the players or the parents like the process the way it is now. If you have rules, there has to be enforcement. If rules are broken, there must be consequences. Remember the SMU football recruiting scandal? It devastated the program and sent a message to other colleges. When club coaches KNOW there is no penalty for violating the rules, what prevents them from breaking them? HOAVB needs to be more accountable to the system and to the sport!

Recruiting violations will occur no matter what is done unfortunately, but waiting until nationals in over just makes sense.

This is the second year we have gone to nationals after the recruitment has changed and both years our team did not live up to it's potentional because the moral was shot. Everyone knows it is wrong so fix it but you must hold the clubs accountable that break the rules and we all know who they are so fix that also.

Would love to see a change in the current policy. It effects these young athletes in ways that I think we have only begun to see. It makes me sad that club has come to this. Let's have tryouts and let the talent of the players make the teams after Nationals is over. They need to focus on the team they are on and reap the benefits of their hard work as they play in the biggest tournament of the year! !!

The recruiting before Nationals is horrible. I can't believe HOA stands behind this. I'm very disappointed. Please think about the kids & what you are putting them through unnecessarily.

The current process makes no sense for anyone and very negatively affects performance in the national tournament. Everyone is angry or hurt and no team can perform at their maximum abilityl

When my oldest started playing there were try-outs. They were called try outs for a reason. Now they are called "open gyms" which is really just tryouts. I don't understand that. Now we have the club directors pressuring coaches to "sign" their players before the current season ends. I've seen how it affects players, parents and coaches. This is not good for anyone except the club directors who want to make sure their pockets are filled for the next season. Who came up with this idea anyway?

Having these girls go through such stress before their season even ends is ludicrous. These girls should be focusing on finals and ending their current season strong with their team mates, not surrounded by gossip and insecurity. My daughter is done with volleyball purely because she didn't want to deal with this b.s. Have tryout dates, stick to them, and be honest and forthcoming with your players. Make decisions as coaches and stick to them and your word.

Truly destroyed my daughter a couple of years ago...not only did it impact her playing, it impacted her final exams at school. These people don't take into account the "whole child" that these athletes are.

I have coached club for five seasons so and been involved since 2000. It gets crazier every year. Doing ANYTHING for next year before August is crazy. When my daughter started, tryouts were actually tryouts!

Here's an idea.....hold tryouts, have fewer, higher quality teams and make a young lady actually earn her spot. Make this whole process more real life and prepare them for reality.

The madness has to stop. It is impossible for a team to finish their current season on a strong and positive note when everyone (players, coaches, and parents) are surrounded by the chaos of sorting out the next plans for the next season.
