There should be a governance which provides guidelines and consequences for Clubs in how they conduct recruitment.

The governing body needs to do some of governing. It's sad what the clubs put the kids through. Interesting that in the HOA's Code of Behavior there is no code for clubs and their directors. There is code for athletes, parents and everyone else. No code for the clubs,

It was ridiculous how coaches were hanging around recruiting my daughter and others during tournaments. No mutual respect between teams.

We need the region to support families and young athlete's in a positive manner, which in my opinion would mean not discussing the upcoming season until the current season is over whether that be at regional' s or nationals. I have heard that the recruitment issue only impacts some 3 percent of players and families in our region, but the region needs to look at the level of the players and their families that it is effecting!!!

If anyone really truly believes changing the rules will actually stop the madness...well, there is some swamp, nevermind, i digress. Recruiting has taken place before nationals as long as I can remember (10+ years involved with sport). Previously, clubs/coaches would meet in secret places to secure players for the next year. Nowadays, with the smartphones, just a simple text conversation would suffice. Changing the rules aren't going to change the clubs/coaches recruiting policies. Only difference now is there is no need to do it secretly. It will continue no matter what the rules are. It comes down to securing talent as early as possible. If the parents don't like this, then we need to be the ones to report the violations to the region. And, who will actually do that if a top club comes calling you recruiting your daughter in April/May or June?

this is a great idea because I personally did not get to go to nationals with my team this year because of the early offers. which was really disappointing. also it's a tough thing to take in for a 15 year old girl knowing that they have to go to nationals with those team and spend thousands of dollars when they know that they aren't even asked back next year..

The volleyball club recruiting process, as it currently stands, is a mess. Releasing players before nationals is demoralizing to the entire team who worked hard to earn their bid together. Tryouts/recruitment should not take place until after nationals is over. The process that has been in place for the past two years is not working for anyone. I also think that clubs should give players at least 14 days to make a decision as to whether or not they want to make a commitment to that club.

It is an absolute slap in the face to the players, who mind you, have dedicated themselves to their team and coaches for months, to replace them before the regular/post season is over. I understand that this is a business and clubs want to have bragging rights as it relates to the number of teams they send to nationals...but at what cost? Our girls are MORE THAN volleyball players. Our girls are MORE THAN a means to a national title. Our girls are MORE THAN a player about to be replaced by a coveted OH, DS, Setter, or Libero. Our girls are MORE THAN!
When did club directors and coaches forget this? Our girls are human. They are people. Treat them with the same amount of respect they give you. Have some decency and integrity and stop the insanity!!! It isn't right!

After nationals would be perfect and still give clubs and players plenty time to form teams.

Simply a mess! . Please consider this petition and also impact on those players/families who may be the final 2-3 kids on a team. Pretty easy to make a determination to leave this sport, as relationships with teammates change, whispers and team divisions start occurring, etc. Thank you!
