The residents and business owners in the immediate area of Abrams/I-635 area have been overwhelmed with the panhandling problem. Members of our community have worked with a number of City agencies and departments for the last 2 years with very little, if any success. I am requesting that this location be selected as one of the target sites in the new pilot study being managed by the City of Dallas Office of Community Care. This seems to be the best opportunity so far, to address this issue that negatively impacts my safety and pride in my community.

I have sent a formal request to the Office of Community Care to include the Abrams and I-635 intersection as a target site for the upcoming pilot study. We are currently waiting for a direct response regarding the site selection criteria. I will provide a summary of their feedback as soon as it arrives.

The volume of support has secured us a formal meeting with the Office of Community Care to discuss the Abrams and I-635 intervention. I am currently assembling a briefing packet that outlines the specific safety concerns raised in your accounts to ensure this site is prioritized in their pilot study.

Also the 7-11 on Abrams and 635. One PH assaulted a store clerk while I was in there, in line, right in front of me, when the clerk asked him to leave the area. They are getting more aggressive.
The area at 635/Abrams has become worse since we moved in the end of 2017. Many of the vagrants "camp out" at the Title Max during Saturday and Sunday. I've also seen panhandlers enter into traffic to get money and have almost caused accidents. It's just a matter of time before someone gets hurt.
I own a business at Abrams & Forest for over 30 years. The panhandling has become unbearable and we need relief. I bleeds over onto all who live and do business in the area.
I have at least a couple dozen reports including photos from this intersection that I reported in the Dallas 311 app in the past year. As nothing seemed to be done, I stopped documenting them, but the problem has only increased.
The panhandling situation at Abrams & LBJ is an embarrassment to our community. My daughter & I have both been personally & aggressively approached at gas stations, fast food restaurants, & in store parking lots. Please do your trial in this area.
This is a growing problem at that intersection. Now they are camping out at the loan office that moved out and nobody is doing anything about it.

This area typically has all 4 corners covered.. plus the encampment under the awening of a local business . These panhandlers are usually picked up in a new model Camry to Chrysler van
