Panhandling Crisis at Abrams/ I-635 and Surrounding Areas

This is a growing problem at that intersection. Now they are camping out at the loan office that moved out and nobody is doing anything about it.

the encampments they've created on the northeast side of Abrams and 635 need to be addressed as well. I agree with "if they can stand on a corner for hours, they can collect shopping carts for a wage"

This is one of the worst intersections in Dallas for panhandling. Multiple people soliciting donations at multiple locations across both sides of 635 and Abrams.

Tired of these people and the mess they leave, impeding traffic, casting dangerous situations for everyone. If they have the energy to stand on a street corner all day, they can round up shopping carts or flip burgers for an honest wage.

The panhandlers hold up traffic at Abrams/IH635, Forest/IH635, Skillman/IH635 and Greenville/IH635. They have moved under bridges along the freeway and into the creeks around our neighborhoods. These panhandlers menace us and hold up traffic at intersections, and are actively camping out at the old TitleMax location. And, the police just drive by and do nothing. Richardson doesn't seem to have a homeless problem to the extent that Dallas does, so clearly we need better enforcement or a change in our laws. It is true, that they are organized. We pay taxes. They do not. We need signage to prevent loitering, trespassing, and panhandling. We also need the police to enforce the law and keep them off the streets, out of our businesses and neighborhoods. Crime has skyrocketed in direct proportion to the number of panhandlers on the streets. Our cars are broken into, and it is no longer safe to be outside your own home after dark in some areas. Businesses are also affected as these hobos insist on access to public restrooms and bathe in the sinks, trash out the place, clog up the commodes and even use these restrooms as hotel rooms, which is totally disgusting. Happened to stop in at a drugstore in our neighborhood just as one of the employees was being abused by a homeless person because of the damage they have caused to the restroom. This store can't afford to let them inside to use the restroom. The employee told me a homeless couple locked themselves in the restroom for two hours, and management finally had to break the door down to get them out. This kind of activity can't be allowed to continue. We need help, please do something as the problem is getting worse.

I was watching one of the panhandlers using the cross-walk indicator to slow down traffic for every change of the light so he could get to more cars. Traffic is bad enough in Dallas without artificially slowing it down even more.

It's getting so bad now they are sometimes on every corner walking between cars looking in your windows with their hands out. . Now they are hanging clothes on the 635 guardrails like a clothes line. Every corner is overflowing with their empty water bottles and trash. I still see people give them money every day. This is an organized business, I have seen a man in a black Camry pick them up and drop them off. He has a pad and organizes them giving some of them some money when they leave and then giving instruction to the fresh beggar he just brought. It makes me want to move .

These men have become more aggressive and something needs to be done.

They are in the lanes of traffic and are threatening motorists through windows!! Something must be done!!

something must be done to stop these aggressive people. during the day they are on all the corners and they camp out at titlemax or hang out at the "all night barber shop" .

There are always pan handlers at our nearest intersection and they consistently camp behind our neighborhood and leave trash and create chaos

I work in the area and they do not belong laying under title max awning. Serious problem and the Dallas Police do not remove them when they see them there they just pass by

I have lived in the neighborhood at the southeast corner of the Richland College campus for a number of years. The number of panhandlers and encroachment into our neighborhood is overwhelming us. The residents are willing to do whatever we can to help. We have never seen so many begging and dumping trash as they go. They can even be intimidating. We would love to be identified as a target site!

This area typically has all 4 corners covered.. plus the encampment under the awening of a local business . These panhandlers are usually picked up in a new model Camry to Chrysler van

Agree, Abrams / I-635 panhandling activity is steadily increasing.

Abram/635 is the worst! Every day I see at least 3 guys panhandling. Morning/lunch time/Evening. This is just too much!
