We, the under signed, that we should paint the classrooms in Souhegan High School (SHS) light colors other than white to promote a better learning environment and to help the students work better by being surrounded by calming colors. The current colors of the school suggest simplicity as described on a color meaning website called color-wheel-pro. Updating these colors can provoke changes in students and teachers moods towards their learning environments and help make them more active participants in class. In a study done by the International Center of Leadership and Education, repainting the classrooms different colors can increase school pride, reduce the amount of disruptive behavior, and reduce vandalism. According to Sherwin Williams, a brand of paint, high schools should have colors like blue or green. Blue promotes intelligence and wisdom, and green has been proven to take away stress and create a calmer atmosphere.
