I am petitioning the Beaufort County School District to outfit all elementary school busses with at minimum two cameras per bus, to insure the safety and general well-being of every elementary school students who participates in public transportation.  It is well known that children now a days are becoming increasingly violent at a disturbingly young age. Seats are sitting to high on the bus for safety reasons but it also makes it so that bus drivers cannot keep a vigilant eye on every student and the activities of each individual.  This has led to an increase in bullying, hazing, and general torment for many children and it is time that an end was put to it.  With cameras situated properly on the bus, parents can rest assured that their children and others children are being fully watched.  This way if anything untoward does happen, a full and reliable account has been recorded.  Instead of trying to ask children, who each see the world differently, what happened and getting different stories, all you have to do is play back the tape from that day.  It also alleviates anxieties for parents of younger children to ensure that older more knowledgeable children are not taking advantage of the young ones.  This petition will show Beaufort County School distinct that we are NOT idle parents!  We demand that our students, our children are taken proper care of and that the children who need disciplinary actions receive it!  A zero tolerance policy for such things is already in place, but how can we expect the school to fully uphold that if no one can catch these bullying children?  How would you feel if your child came home from school after being strangled on the bus and you were told that stories didn’t match so nothing could be done about it?  Even though the poor thing had marks all over their neck and was red in the face…  It’s time to not only protect our children, but ensure that the school is being held to full accountability for the safety of our children and being obligated to implement their policy and uphold it to its standards.
