im very familiar with this route as its one I pass on my bike rides and avoid at all costs due to the dangers. Even in good weather it's hazardous for walking with steep concrete walkways that haven't been maintained and are in desperate need of reconstruction. Weeds and bushes are overgrown, concrete is broken, wood railings are missing on the walking bridge and so much more. If our children are asked to walk this path to and from school then the Transportation department and BOE should be asked to walk this path at least once to see that what they're asking of our children
is hazardous and unsafe.

No child should have to walk 5 miles a day to get to and from school. Especially with the huge amount we pay for taxes.

walking along a 40 mph road with out a sidewalk Is prohibited , crossing a 40 mph county road without a crossing guard , cross walk or timed lights is a violation of state mandates , in inclemate weather this route would require walking 2.5 miles in a traveling lane , if bamn hallow estates are bused because they have to cross Middletown lincroft road , these hazardous conditions exist for all the children within this radius and needs to be addressed by providing transportation for those children that meet State mandates.

It is dangerous in this day and age to make children walk 2.3 miles to school. Such a liability. It is in everyone's best interest especially the children to offer them busing.

ifits too close offer a bus that parents can pay for as an option. we had it when i was a kid and went to Nutswamp, Thompson and South.

We live 1.96 miles from Bayshore and didn't qualify for bus. I was told by dept of trans that its not their problem how my child gets to school. And if anything happens to my child while walking, thats not the school's problem either. Then why have snow days?

We live 1.9 miles from bayshore so my daughter can not be bussed. My next door neighbor lives 2.0 miles away from bayshore, he can be bussed. That just doesn't make sense!

I think all families should have access to bussing but I also think that option should not be on the backs of taxpayers. If it is cost effective to allow the children to board the bus at the closest pickup then please allow them to do so. The roads of Middletown have become far too overcrowded and dangerous for children to be walking them. If it's an option, and the families are willing to pay a fee for this service, please implement it and review for the safety and well being of all Middletown children. To boast that you have the best community, safest community, etc. the least we can do is provide a safe mode of transportation to and from school, and also for after school activities. Figure it out. Charge the families, whatever you need to do to make it work.

I have been dealing with the ridiculous policies of Middletown busing for 6 years now. 2 mile rule that seems to be measured " as
the crow flies" as I measured 2.1 miles. I was told to take Brasch not Nutswamp Rd- apparently all roads must lead to Brasch. No bus for us In Lincroft Meadows YET the kids that do have this " privilege" don't all get on the bus and there are empty seats on the buses! Don't believe me? Ask the bus kids. .Meanwhile the homes with 2 working parents who don't fall into the 2 mile radius standards must scramble daily for transportation. My opinion is the whole process should be revisited. Why are we picking HIGH SCHOOL kids in neighborhoods? There should be bus stops on Main roads. Let them WALK to main roads to bus stops. I would even pay for that bus. My kid walked 2.1 miles from school ALOT during her 4 years.
Good Luck with this petition. My suggestion?
Ask the people in charge when was the last time they WALKED a mile never mind 2 miles to work?

Just got back from the Bamm Hollow Development they advised all children will have buses to all 3 schools, Lincroft Thompson and MHSS....they have a guarantee from MTBOE even though they only measure 1.12 to back door...
