We, the undersigned New Yorkers, represent the hundreds of communities, in all five boroughs, that cherish New York City's parks and open spaces. We call on Mayor de Blasio to pledge that all of our beloved parks, gardens and playgrounds will be protected, and accessible to all.
Throughout the past twelve years, far too many of this city's open spaces have been sold off to the highest bidders, as if those green oases of fresh air and sunlight don't belong to all of us—a public trust that must now be respected and restored.
We therefore hail Judge Donna Mills’ decision, handed down on Jan. 7, that officially declared three Greenwich Village parks to be “official” City parkland, thereby blocking NYU's relentless drive to wipe them out in order to expand its campus.
We see Judge Mills' decision as a turning-point not only for the Village but for every neighborhood in New York City; and so all of us New Yorkers stand together in the firm belief that our officials, both elected and appointed, have a sacred duty to ensure that every park, garden, playground and other open space remains within the public trust; and to make every effort to increase such green and open space throughout our City, for the good of all.
(We also encourage everyone to not only sign our petition, but to call City Hall directly to ask that they preserve and expand NYC's parks, gardens and open spaces; no more giveaways to the highest bidder! In NYC, dial 311 and ask for the Mayor's office.)

It is such a pleasure to see the sky, hear the birds and smell the flowers when I walk my dogs up La Guardia Place. There is so little of this respite from concrete, glass, steel and heavy traffic. Please save what little we have left.
PLEASE SAVE OUR PARKS! I want my children and theirs to run, skip, and imagine in the same parks I will have stories to tell them about. I want to tell them these stories as we stroll through the still green parks of the West Village!!
We already allowed nyu to build tall buildings in exchange for green space. Now they want it back for more taller buildings. They should not be allowed to keep making the same deal -- it's done. No more park land for nyu!
Gloria Feliciano Our garden in the Bronx is on parks land this is a medicine for a lot of seniors especially does with generalized arthritis problem like me this is my other home do not let our gardens be destroy.
I am a member of LaGuardia Corner Gardens, and every time I am in the garden, people come in to enjoy the peace and quiet, admire the flowers and they always express their appreciation for this oasis. Please don't allow greed to destroy it.
The right to fully enjoy of nature and sunlight should be in the human's rights list.
Stop NYU's continued expansion.

Also, private funding can be a helpful support for parks and green spaces, but it tends to go for the big places in the most affluent communities. Public funding is essential to maintain grren space in every borough, and in all communities.
