I live in Oribi Flats and use the gorge nature reserve almost daily. The road is badly damaged and undermined in parts. This is very dangerous for drivers and damaging for vehicles. Also if this road is unusable then we have restricted entry and exit into Oribi, especially when the N2 or P200 is closed to traffic and the nature reserve road is the only access. People are reluctant to drive through to visit or go to tourism spots because they feel unsafe on the road and fear damage to their cars. This road needs to be fixed but also regularly maintained thereafter.

I am a farm owner in Oribi Flats and use the gorge road almost daily for business. The road is badly damaged and unsafe in many parts posing a danger to drivers on the road and also causing damage to vehicles. This is also a tourism route which the area relies on for employment and is being adversely affected by the poor road conditions. If left unattended this road will be unusable killing tourism in the area and adversely affecting farming business access and turn around time.

This road is so important to the tourists and locals. Oribi is our most popular tourist attraction in this area and is visited by many international and local tourist. Not only that, but many farmers and business people use that road and it would be a huge failure by the provincial and national governments not to repair this important and beautiful road.

I cannot understand why the road has been left to degenerate to this sad state. Just because it forms part of our beautiful natural heritage. Plenty of funds are collected from the public to cover road maintenance... Where has all the money gone?

This road is absolutely iconic in this area. Such a unique feature that draws tourists year round. It absolutely must be maintained regularly to ensure the livelihood of the community around it.

I live in Munster on the Liwer South Coast. As an elderly and somewhat disabled Octogenarian. I find the drive through Oribi Gorge is o be one of the highlights of the view sights in Natal . I recently drove through with two American friends . They were overwhelmed with the spectacular nature of the scenery. In addition , it is a sanctuary for the small remaining species f wildlufe in the area. To close the road, or not repair it, would be a catastrophe for tourism and the economy of the area.

The gorge is one of our natural treasures, and the impact on the reserves will be devastating should the roads stay in this state, or get worse! We as a family make use of that road on a regular basis as Lake Eland, amongst others, are our get-away destination many weekends. The workers in the reserve will not be able to reach their place of work, and the list goes on. Please, please, repair the damage to the road before it becomes too late! Rains are on its way.
