The Shenandoah County School Board has decided to change the school boundary lines to alleviate overcrowding at Sandy Hook Elementary and WW Robinson Elementary, and increase utilization at the Southern Campus. This page has been created to support a petition to DEFER a decision on implementing the boundary change until a better understanding of the costs and benefits of this plan is obtained. There are other options for better utilizing the schools that have not been explored, and rushing in to a boundary change will not solve the problems - even in the short term.

The school board is counting on us giving up while they rush this destructive plan through. We need to hit that hundred mark immediately so we can show them how many people see through their incompetence.

I am not for this boundary adjustment. Not only do I not want my children to be moved from their schools I feel the good citizens of Shenandoah Counties tax payer dollars are being wasted. We need to defer this until a long term plan can be established.

The boundaries were supposed to start from scratch - but there is so much gerrymandering going on that no one is going to buy into the new lines. With enrollment declining over the next few years it does not make sense to move kids right now. Do the longer term plan the make decisions.

Disappointed that we paid $100,000 to collect some data. There is a lot of work to be done. I would really have liked to see that money go towards a Toms Brook area elementary school. That would actually fix overcrowding of the schools instead of shifting the problems. Literally.

Precipitous moves to change boundaries are poorly motivated and the whole issue needs to be further studied with the application of data and models to make the decision more rationale and less political.

I think more thought & preparation of the cost should have been taken into consideration before we even came this far with boundaries, I feel it's not a solution ( w the calculation we have its not freeing up one classroom) the numbers just don't add up in to comparison to the cost!

Moving 5th grade to Middle Schools and 8th grade to High Schools will relieve overcrowding. The use of telecommunications to schools without AP classes. I know through experience with my son some Univ. will only take 1 or 2 AP classes plus the student has pay to take test. If the student doesn't score high enough the Univ. won't take the class. Plus, all three high schools over the years have had classes the others have not. Any one from the Northern/Central could have done a better job at drawing boundaries to make sure it was fair.
