Opposition to Commercial Zoning for the City of Oak Hill

I oppose commercial development of Oak Hill.

I feel that this hasn't been handled well at all. I would think we would have been contacted at least by phone or email to be informed about this ordinance. It's done all the time for other reasons not nearly as important as this.

I am opposed to the proposed rezoning. At minimum, please delay the vote.

Preserve our beautiful, residential neighborhoods in Oak Hill!

I am probably opposed, but at this point, I am more interested in the postponement of the vote to allow commercial zoning, until further discussion of the issue can be had among residents of Oak Hill to determine the potential need, or not, of this expansion of the traditional role of Oak Hill. Further, if there are financial needs of Oak Hill, then this discussion should include all of the various methods of remedying those situations, and whether or not limited commercialization of Oak Hill is a proper way to go about that. Further, I think that this issue might be of a magnitude that it should be held as a referendum vote by the residents , and not left up to the votes of just three people.

More time and input needed. I would favor higher tax rate than to allow such a broad swath of our community to have commercial development.

I am 100% opposed to commercial development in Oak Hill. you are suggesting. a significant change to the landscape of our beautiful. and peaceful community. pleae do not srong arm the people who elected you to represent their interest not what you think is best.

For far less than they sent on this issue, a real public hearing should have been conducted from day one. The manner in which this issue has been and is being handled shows how unqualified the elected officals are. This smells really bad but the truth wiil be revealed before this is all over.

We need to have a show of force at the Dec 19 meeting. If they decide to proceed with a vote, they need to do it in front of a large crowd that's vehemently opposed!

"History Book" facts and enjoyably rare feeling of living in or visiting the Franklin Pike area are in total conflict with, and would be destroyed by , the introduction of modern commercialization enterprises. Just open any history book referencing the Battle of Franklin to find that Franklin Pike is both depicted as the main road for the battle, AND is THE road confederate Gen.l Bell took when he marched from Travelers Rest on December 14, 1864 to go confront the Union army.. How trite and history-demeaning it would be for a tour guide to announce, "On this road there is a Target department store, a McDonalds, and a CVS...and this is also the 1864 road taken by confederate Gen. Bell to confront the Union army in the Battle of Nashville." Nashville is a city containing many sites important to American history. It is argued that modern shopping centers benefit modern society. Yes, but their location selection should not unnecessarily be "history destructive" to any location such as the Frankly Pike area, making meaningful history forever unrecoverable.

I am not in support of the commercial development in Oak Hill. I have been a resident of Oak Hill since 2010.
