We, the undersigned, are opposed to the Proposed Oil and Gas Drilling Ordinance and the proposed amendment to the Subdivision Ordinance. We encourage the City Council to put in place an ordinance that takes into consideration the following; • The fact that Midland, Texas is a leader in, and relies heavily upon, the Oil Industry • The rights of Mineral Owners • The limitations on the authority of the City, both inside and outside of the City Limits • The Rules of the Texas Railroad Commission • The City should concern itself with the health and safety of the citizens of Midland, and remain neutral as to rights of mineral and surface owners. • The importance of keeping the City out of costly and unnecessary litigation Please give this matter careful consideration, and pass an ordinance that makes sense for Midland, Texas.
