The city officially denied the permit for the tower at St. Perpetua. My kids will walk to school without that eyesore looming over their playground because we refused to back down. We should keep an eye on future zoning filings to make sure this remains resolved.

Final supporters
The citizens, school parents and other stakeholders in the community of Lafayette, California, oppose the installation of the AT&T Cell Tower on the property of St. Perpetua School at 3454 Hamlin Road. We, the opposed, urge the denial of Application WCF10-13 (AT&T Wireless (Applicant), Roman Catholic Bishop of Oakland (Owner)) by the City Planning Commission and the City Council, and a withdrawal of support of the project by St. Perpetua Parish and the Diocese of Oakland.

I have been spending my evenings reviewing the zoning maps and talking with neighbors who are just as worried as I am about our children playing so close to this equipment. The silence from the Diocese is frustrating but it only motivates me to keep knocking on doors and asking the tough questions.

Seeing this momentum swell makes me realize how many of us truly want to protect our children and the peace of our neighborhood. This movement carries the weight of our shared anxiety about where that tower is going. Your belief in this cause keeps me going as I prepare for the next step with the Planning Commission.

Something like this has no place at a school with young children, especially when the potential EMR impacts are unclear. Also, there is plenty of cell coverage in Lafayette. AT&T should piggy back onto the many existing Cell towers.
I'm a Hamlin neighbor and feel that there are better locations for this cell tower than at a school and so close to my house.
I don't think that many would dispute the increasing evidence that demonstrates that RF radiation can and does have a biologic effect. What we don't know is, "is the effect harmful or result in any downstream pathology". As such, until non-biased, controlled studies are conducted to answer this question, we MUST employ the "Precautionary Principle" which employs us to abandon this project until we can definitively say that RF exposure is free of health related risk. We owe this to our children and to our community.
I don't take chances with my children's health for any reason. I don't want to go to a school that is willing to take that chance with my kids' health for financial gain.
To exposse children to a possible carcinogen is unconsciousnable. Would the church expsose to childrent to lead, DDT and other possible carcinogens?
