The undersigned residents of Fairfield Glade request that the Board of Directors for the Fairfield Glade Community Club allow pickleball to be played on the courts at the racquet center effective May 1st or earlier.
In the executive order issued by Governor Lee, there was allowance made for sports like pickleball and tennis to be played. See text below:
d. Engaging in outdoor activity, provided that persons the Health Guidelines to the greatest extent practicable, including, but not limited to, driving or riding in a vehicle, walking, hiking, running, biking, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, golf, tennis, or other sports or recreational activities that can be performed while maintaining the aforementioned precautions or utilizing public parks and outdoor recreation areas; ….
We can safely play pickleball while maintaining social distancing guidelines by implementing these procedures.
1) Social Distancing
a-The dimensions of a pickleball court are 20 X 44 which allows 880 sqaure feet to be used for only 4 players, or 220 sq feet for person. This allows for adequate space for social distancing.
b- To further enhance social distancing and follow the government guidelines of a maximum number of 10 people, we would support the temporary closing of half the pickleball courts at the racquet center. This would allow for 2 courts on each side and would only allow a maximum of 8 players playing on each side.
c- Players will not congregate under the covered pavilion before or after games.
d- Courts will be reserved using the current on line scheduling system. A maximum of 2 courts per person (per session) will be allowed to be reserved to limit number of players.
e- No drop in sessions will be scheduled since those would be harder to regulate the number of players.
f- Only current residents of FFG will be allowed to play on the courts.
g- All players will wash their hands before and after each game. The game balls will also be sanitized before each game.
2) Court access
a- If no employee will be present, suggest a Smart Lock with blue tooth technology be used to secure the courts. A code would be used to access the courts and be changed on a daily basis and only be communicated to the persons reserving the court.
3) Payment of fees
a- Until an electronic payment system is implemented by FFG the person who reserved the court would be responsible to collecting fees from players. Collect players name, preferred member card number and number of hours playing pickleball. Information would then be turned into the designated person/place to record payment of fees.
4) Any person showing symptoms of a flu like illness will not be permitted to play.

The board is still being totally silent on the emails I sent about the Governor's order and it is incredibly frustrating because waiting around is not going to get us back on those courts. I am currently spending every night drafting a new proposal to show how easily we can space things out and honestly if they just looked at the math for five minutes they would see it makes perfect sense.

I honestly did not think this would gain this much steam so fast because usually people around here just complain in private and never actually do anything about it. I have been reading through the comments all morning and just getting so pumped up by everyone wanting to get back on the courts safely. It feels like the board is finally going to have to look at us now instead of just pretending we do not exist.

Only if special procedures are in place to assure the social distancing directives.
Al;so open play at the Community Center and open play at the Racket Center and open play at our golf courses. If play is not opened, refund or do not collect POA dues each month amenity play is denied.
Outdoor Pickleball is essential to our physical as well as our mental well being. We are all responsible adults. We know the importance of social distancing. Please seriously consider opening the RC outdoor courts . Thank You
Yes, I concur to open the courts. Players should also sign a release of liability to the Club. No employee need be present during play or registration. We can keep track of the collection and pay remotely. (less handling of infected money)
I do not want the virus but I do want to play pickle ball. I am confident that we can take precautions to keep us safe while getting the exercise we want and need

I recently read an article re/ the importance of exercise in protecting us from the coronavirus. Let's make it easier for all of us to follow that guideline.
