OUR HARLEM PARK AND COMMUNITY GARDEN!!!!
Unity Park (53-57 West 128th Street) has served for 20 years as a NYC park and one of the largest community gardens with 50 Harlem families.
Our neighborhood needs the use of the park and garden before May 15 for families to grow food and for children to learn in our summer educational enrichment program with the Bank Street College of Education.
The NYC Department of Buildings closed the park last December because of the poor condition of the wall of an adjacent derelict building. DOB found the building NOT to be in danger of collapse but was concerned about loose siding. The City can fix the problem or simply place netting over the wall so the park and garden could be used this summer and fall.
We ask the City of New York to open this vital public green space for community use!

Do not deny the area residents of the simple pleausre of growing their own food and participating in the enrichment program. There are so few treasures such as this program and I am sure the city can find a way to enable it to continue
