There is a walkway between Ayers Court and Walraven Drive near the top of the street, and the gate that allows people to pass through was recently locked. Upon speaking with Walraven management, the reason given was that people were blocking the walkway when they parked their cars, which made it difficult to access the walkway with all of the snow present.

Rather than contacting tenants, or placing a sign on the gate requesting that people refrain from parking in front of it or otherwise blocking it, the gate was simply locked without warning or notification.

Parking for the Walraven apartments is already extremely limited, and therefore tenants often find spots on Ayers Court. Locking this gate makes it much more difficult to cross through to Walraven, particularly for tenants who may have babies, carseats, groceries, or who are pregnant.

We are therefore requesting that:
1) The gate be reopened
2) If the management finds it necessary for tenants to park in a way that does not block access to the front of the gate, please put up a sign or some form of request stating so, rather than locking the gate without fair warning.
