In response to the announcement on March 24 that the Taramore pool will reopen with the same 2020 restrictions (no slide, no chairs or umbrellas), Taramore residents implore that Pulte and Taramore HOA, et. al., reconsider these stringent restrictions in light of the new CDC guidelines as of February 2, 2021: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/parks-rec/aquatic-venues.html.

Following these updated guidelines, swimming facilities in TN, such as Soundwaves, are open with furniture and water slides.

These outdated restrictions deny residents basic amenities without any scientific support. Even in stricter states like California, residents have been using pools with both chairs and umbrellas (to provide coverage from the sun and skin cancer) since June 2020.

The developer and HOA should not continue a blanket policy to deny all residents basic pool amenities, particularly when the CDC states that there is not evidence of “COVID-19 spreading to people through water in pools, hot tubs, water playgrounds, or other treated aquatic venues” and other, larger corporations are operating pool facilities across the country without such restrictions.

Residents should be able to make an informed decision about whether to use the pool furniture and slide for their families.

I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by the momentum here and I have to admit I never expected to see so many neighbors agree on this. This energy belongs to all of you who took a moment to join in.

Please open the slide this summer. It's a major feature of the neighborhood amenities, and the kids love it very much. There's no scientific justification to close it at this point.

Last year, there were many unknowns about COVID-19. This summer, we should follow the science and allow residents the use of the water slides, umbrella and pool furntiture. If a resident chooses to bring their own pool chair or not allow their family to use the waterslide, that is there choice. Please let Taramore make a decision based on what is best for their families.

One suggestion is to supply sanitizing wipes by the gate for anyone interested in cleaning a chair before using it.

Restrictions imposed for the outdoor pool are not based on any current and well published public health guidelines. Restricting umbrellas does nothing to keep residents “safer” and as pointed out in the summary position of this petition, is behind more restrictive state governments such as California.

I fully support lifting all restrictions to our community pool. Spread of COVID-19 from contact on furniture is unsupported. I further request that the swimming pool be available for adult residents beyond only the life guard supported hours as it allows us to extend available hours and spread the volume of users throughout the day.

All available medical evidence indicates that Covid-19 is not transmitted via pool water and CDC guidelines reflect this. Furthermore, it is extremely unlikely that transmission could occur via contact with surfaces that are exposed to sunlight, hot conditions, and / or copious water. Caution should still be taken to maintain distancing, as nearly all outdoor viral spread occurs via short range droplets and is greatly mitigated by simply increasing physical separation.
