Owning property is a founding principle of these Great United States. We allowed government to assess property taxes which now makes us all renters of the government. NO MORE REGULATIONS AND TAXES! This is an unconstitutional grab and any council member who votes for this ordinance should be seen for the traitor they are.

Thé City already charges unrefundable deposit to turn on utilities. This is a money maker for city and they are going to cost landowners money. Waiting for inspection is not okay when rental houses turn in a day at times. Not happy!!

This is against my rights as a property owner. They government needs to stay out of my home. Spend some time fixing all the terrible roads in town and quit policing the Town.

I am opposed to this proposed ordinance for many reasons. The ordinance can be viewed at http://opelikacityal.iqm2.com/Citizens/Detail_Meeting.aspx?ID=2987. It it is item #2 of 14. Ordinances. Section 12-44 (d), (e) & (f) exempts government subsidized units (public housing units and Section 8). If this is approved, and I'm not saying it should not be approved, it should include all residential units.

I oppose this annual increase and the inspection of the rental property. That is what we do as owners. We don't need someone to do our job and also have to pay them.

It is my understanding that the new ordinance does not include section 8 rental property. If section 8 rental property is not addressed then any additional ordinances are totally without merit and are counterproductive

I keep my rental property updated and in great shape. I can't get the City to maintain the drainage ditch along my property line which is eroding my property and fencing. This money grab "hassle" by the City will result in individuals leaving the rental property business thus making rental property more scarce than it currently is. At the very least, the cost will get passed on making rental rates out of reach for many needing to rent a home. Take care of your own business before you force others to do something causing a negative impact to the local economy.

The ordinance to correct these types of issues is already in play, it's not getting enforced because it covers ALL homes not just rental properties. We've got all the laws we need, try some order. The elected and hired officials of Opelika are NOT doing their job.
