Typical government overreach on regulation. It increases the costs for the landlord, which are passed on to the tenant. Tenants can't afford higher rents, especially given the rampant inflation. Sadly, this will result in more homeless families as landlords take rental units off the market.

Residents should be involved when making major decisions. So many times inspectors have gone out and checked homes for closings, make recommendations that were highly unmerited. I have had rental property for many years and kept it to the standards if I lived there myself. To allow this to take
place would make it a waste of time and effort to provide nice places to live for people starting out or cannot afford to buy.
If someone supports this they have never been in the rental business. It’s tough enough as it is. Rental property owners need support from the city officials not to make it harder on them. They provide a service that the city can’t afford too. Please be considerate and vote against this.
