To

The Principal,

Our Own boys High School, Sharjah

UAE.

Respected Sir,

Sub: Petition against the sudden shifting of Our Own Boys High School, Sharjah from Muweilah to Al Juwaiza'a

This letter is to highlight the concerns of many parents whose wards are the students of your school.

We as the parents want the best for our children's education and perhaps that is the reason for choosing Gems Our Own Boys High School to shape the future of our kids.

However, the notice about the shifting of the school was shocking and has ended up with lots of worries, confusions and sleepless nights for all of us.

Firstly, the location is very far from the city and in a deserted area. Our children will be forced to spend more than 2 hours on the road, which is a serious concern for all the parents. Rather than spending the time on the road, our children should utilize that time for other productive activities.

Secondly, for any reason, if the parents need to visit the school, it is going to be very hectic. The conveyance of the parents will be chaotic, and they should pay hefty fee for the taxi and we are doubtful whether we can get any taxi or public transport to return to the city.

Thirdly, the area is deserted and lacking the infrastructure such as roads, public transport etc. Our children will suffer if it is a windy day or a rainy day or a sandstorm day. In addition to that the cement factory is nearby and the atmosphere will be filled with dust particles, which can cause serious health hazards to our wards.

Lastly, the notice period was so short and by the time we received the circular from the school, the other options were almost exhausted. Now we all are finding it extremely difficult to either continue or change the school. Please give us at least 8 to 10 month’s notice when you have such plans, which will also give us enough time to plan.

We want our kids to continue in Our Own Boys High School, Muweilah and hence we request you to consider this petition and continue the school in the current Muweilah campus.

Expecting a favorable action from your side.

Yours sincerely,

Parents - Our Own Boys High School, Sharjah

The silence from the administration is becoming deafening but it only confirms that we need to keep pushing for answers. I am exhausted from the constant back and forth but reading your stories makes it clear that we cannot back down now.

Seeing this kind of movement confirms that my exhaustion is shared by so many of you who are tired of being ignored. I am holding onto this momentum because the prospect of our children facing such an inaccessible commute remains unacceptable.

This is not fair at all..As they collect the fees in advance to ensure the admission; it was their responsibility to inform the parents if there is any possibility to change the location. Otherwise we have to think it was a pre-planned game from management side. An organisation like GEMS are not supposed to do like this. YOU REALLY SPOIL THE NAME AT LEAST FOR SOME PARENTS LIKE US. WE MAY FORCED TO STICK WITH YOU... NOT BY HEART BUT BECAUSE OF SITUATION...

It is located in a very harsh terrain there is no residential areas nearby it’s near the cement factory and will be a polluted area, there are no hospitals ,fire stations, police stations ,etc. Considering all this, it’s obvious that it is not an ideal institutional setup.

We are not at all happy about the sudden decision taken by the faculty. It’s very hard to wake our kids so early n send at 6am, from grade 1 we are sending our kids to our own English school I changed the previous school just because of the school bus timing was too early it was at 6am and we and our son was feeling difficulty to manage the time in the morning you could have informed us earlier we could have change the school now with sudden changes it make problem for whole academic year as we can’t change the school, pls come up with some other option don’t put us in trouble

We don’t want to change the school, jo doubt the school is really good. So would suggest to retain the campus in same area that we can continue sending our ward there

I am against the shifting of this school to another location which is remote and in the middle of a desert. That place also has a harsh climate which might prove to be very inconvenient to our children on a windy or a rainy day. The timings of the bus the long ride is not good for our kids.
