We are starting an exciting new charter high school that will be located in Syracuse, New York.
OnTECH Charter High School is being designed to serve new American immigrants and refugees, as well as students looking for a non-traditional learning environment.
- OnTECH will teach skills to students to get jobs upon graduation or to continue with their education.
- OnTECH will focus on sustainable sciences and technology.
- OnTECH will partner with local business.
The biggest industry in our region is agriculture and that will be a central part of the curriculum for the school.
OnTECH is a 21st century learning environment that will set up individuals to become productive and engaged citizens in our community.

I was just staring at the screen and realized how much steam this is actually picking up (which is honestly kind of surreal) and I keep thinking about how agricultural tech is finally getting the attention it deserves. It feels like people are waking up to the fact that we need different ways to learn and grow in Syracuse, and I cannot wait to see where we go from here.

OnTECH Charter School will help help new Immigrants and refugees achieve success and afford them the tools to become productive citizens of our community. Catherine S. Ranieri
Too many youth in our communities are graduating college and coming back home to work at the mall or a temp agency. We need schools to prepare them for the jobs that are in demand now and the jobs whose demands are growing more and more each year.
I have debated the On-Point and Say Yes people about their singular focus on academic higher education to the exclusion of trade studies. Even though I 'lost' the debates I am sad that the students really lost in the debates.
Agriculture Education is an outstanding curriculum for students. Career opportunities are awaiting, as there is a huge need for agonomists, environmental scientists, and much, much more.
Syracuse and the surrounding area is a wonderful place but this region is plagued by issues of many urban settings: high school drop-out rates, unemployment and low-skilled workers. This School addresses these national issues. I support this School and one local region's efforts to tackle these national issues.

I am very pleased to know that impoverished students will have the opportunity to learn in a supportive atmosphere and to offer courses in areas of interest to the student. This would ultimately give that student a well rounded education to move forward to college or a vocational skill which would enhance this child's opportunity to reach his/her goals.
