There aren't enough leisure facilities in Oldham for young people & families. If you want to do anything fun in your spare time you have to travel a long way. For example: - to Hyde for a fun leisure pool complex - Ashton or Rochdale for a cinema or bowling - Blackburn for ice skating - Wakefield for indoor skiing & climbing Not everyone can travel to these places easily, so why can other towns provide good facilities and Oldham can't Young people are always accused of hanging around on the streets and getting into trouble, but this wouldn't be as big a problem if they weren't bored. Don't just criticise the young people in our town, encourage our council to do something to help. For example, the old Roxy cinema has been demolished. Please don't let this be used for more offices, shops or property, we already have lots of these. Why not an ice skating rink or roller blading Nowhere else in Manchester has got these facilities. Not only would they give young people something to do in their spare time, but they would also be an attraction for the area and make money for the council to re-invest in the town. So come on, let's make our voices heard and get the council to do something about the poor state of leisure facilities in our town!
