Dear Resident/Visitor
We are local residents, living on the Old Guildford Road and are in discussion with Surrey County Council about a couple of improvements to the road. We have been guided by our local Councillor, Chris Pitt, who has suggested we have a local petition which will help our cause. Put simply we want two things:
- To remove the National Speed Limit signs at the end of the road, which effectively inform motorists that they can travel at speeds up to 60mph on the Old Guildford Road.
- To extend the tarmac surfacing on our road beyond the last residence (about a further 100 metres), and have a small hard standing turning area for local dog-walkers etc (ideally tarmac surfaced as well), which will make it safer for visitors and residents alike.
This is an adopted road (not private) which many visitors enjoy as well. We live in a local beauty spot, but we also want it safe for residents and visitors alike. If you agree, please can you take a minute and sign our petition which indicates your agreement and support.

Surrey County Council cannot ignore the momentum building behind this demand any longer. We have the numbers to force them to address the dangerous speeds and lack of infrastructure on Old Guildford Road immediately.

I fully agree with all that the local residents of Old Guildford Road has said, it makes sense, it will make it easier for all that enjoy that local area :)
I am a dog walker. I cross this road frequently. A 60 mph limit is not appropriate where there are dogs being walked off lead and cyclists. I support the local residents.
It would be great to stop folk haring up and down Old Guildford Road for the safety of dogs and walkers. I wish you luck!

Driving down this road is a nightmare with the way people speed past. Need to slow them down before someone gets seriously hurt.
