We, the undersigned, propose that the Oshkosh school board decrease the classroom capacities in rooms 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 at Oaklawn Elementary by 20%. The previously mentioned classrooms are between 726 and 780 square feet.  Whereas, the majority of classrooms in the OASD are 900 square feet or larger.  Currently both classroom sizes have the same suggested capacity.  We propose that the capacity should be changed to 20% less than the capacity of other classrooms in the OASD. We also propose that the Oshkosh Area School District provide the population of Oaklawn Elementary with a media center that reflects the OASD policy number 363. A media center that includes, but is not limited to, the Wisconsin Department of Instruction suggestions for a proper media center. Incorporating a substantial increase in square footage, a booktalking/storytelling area, a computer/technology area, and a quiet study/recreational reading area.
