We, parents of first graders from Oak Avenue Elementary feel that our children have not been served right by having 25 students per classroom this year. We now want to make sure that we are giving them a fair chance at learning for the next school year.

We are asking the Los Altos School District to bring to Oak all the first-grade students that are currently on the waiting list and to add another classroom (that would bring the total classes of second graders to 3) for the 2012-2013 school year.

Updates

April 16, 2012

The Los Altos School District cannot ignore this wave of pressure anymore. We have built enough momentum to force a real conversation about the unacceptable crowding in our hallways.

25 kids is way too many for one teacher to handle. How are they supposed to get any one on one time? We need that extra class.

Do the right thing and add the 3rd room. Stop cutting corners with our kids education.

Its exhausting watching them struggle because the classes are so packed. Hope this works.

Ridiculous. My kid is struggling and just getting lost in the crowd. Smaller classes are a must.

PLEASE listen to the parents. My daughter needs more help than the current setup allows.
