Class sizes in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade at Meadow Brook Elementary are at or near capacity, making class sizes exceptionally high. The concerns are that the children are not being challenged or learning needs are not being met. This petition is requesting two additional sections (classes) be added to reduce the overall class sizes and eliminate split classes between grades by the 2019-2020 school year. For the remaining of the 2018-2019 school year, we are petitioning to have either 2 new sections added or 2 hours of paras in each 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade classes every day.

Seeing this kind of movement is exhausting but it proves we are finally getting the attention this situation requires. I am drained from the constant pushback from the district yet I refuse to let this fade away.

I support this petition. Class size has been one of the top concerns of parents in this district. This was evident on the survey the district did last year. Listen to the parents of the community and address this concern.

I would like to see more help for the remainder of the year and move forward with smaller class size next year.Splitting classes now might do more harm than good in the middle of the year. However, I do support this petition.

I vote for more helpers this year as requested by the teachers - I think it would be more of a disruption to separate current classes and learn a new teacher. But smaller classes would obviously be best for everyone. Great new teachers have to be found and decent classroom space to locate everyone has to be worked out which is definitely on everyone's mind.

At 30+ kids in a classroom, nobody wins! Teachers are exhausted, kids are frustrated and learning experiences are negative. I'm sure we can all agree that this is not what we want for our top notch schools here in Rochester.

More than 25 children in a classroom, with 1 teacher, is not acceptable ! I expect Rochester School Disctrict to put additional resources.

This has been a concern of mine for a few years. My daughter has been subjected to two split years, and I believe her learning suffered because of it.

I will gladly sign your petition in supporting the children & teachers at Meadow Brook Elementary. As a Mother of three former students that have attended Rochester Community Schools back in the 80's...Graduated in 93, 95 & 96....We also had growing pains with large classroom sizes...That is when Brewster Elementary, Musson Elementary, Hart Middle School & Stoney Creek High came to be.... because of the over crowding....Now with Grandchildren in the School system, and I have volunteered since they were in Kindergarten .....I see the stress of being overwhelmed with the increase in classroom sizes....it isn't fair to the children, or the teachers, especially with no help....it's frustrating for all concerned. Back in the day, it took several trips to the Board of Ed, and the Superintendents Office, and petition drives, we filled a School Auditorium with our concerns. We are a City that has grown to its capacity in population, we need to provide the much needed space for our children & teachers to thrive....Adding an entire wing onto Meadow Brook Elementary, like Musson Elementary did, might be the answer.....with additional teachers...?? I don't know what the classroom sizes are in our Community with the other 12 Elementary Schools, but I'm sure they are feeling it too.....

I support this petition. This is not fair to the kids. RH teachers are exceptional but pushing them past their limit should not be the norm.
