Pt. Lot 7 & 8, Con. 6, Vacant Land on Gray Road, Janetville ON
We are in opposition to this application for re-zoning within the Oak Ridges Moraine. We have grave concerns with regard to maintaining the integrity of the Oak Ridges Moraine.
On November 1, 2001, the Minister announced a comprehensive strategy for the Oak Ridges Moraine which included introducing the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Act, 2001 (which was passed on December 13, 2001 and received Royal Assent on December 14, 2001)
It is our understanding that the property was purchased will full awareness of the restrictions involved in the 2001 Conservation Act.
This property is situated by the Head Waters of the Pigeon River which contain very sensitive and rare Brook Trout. A stream flows directly from the property in question into the conservation land.
These headwaters are essential to the ecosystem. We wish to ensure that responsible management and the delicate balance of the oak Ridges Moraine is maintained and stays in place.
It has also been brought to our attention that the Conservation and Provincial authorities are in opposition to this re-zoning.
It is our hope that the city councillors we have placed our trust in will do the right thing.

We will be submitting our signatures during the meeting on Feb 8th at 1 pm in the Council Chambers City Hall, 26 Francis Street lindsay ON.

If the property was bought knowing the conservation designation, then changing it is improper as well as unfair to others who play be the rules or purchase nearby properties with the understanding that they were near conservation lands.
The pigeon river CA is truly a ecological gem in the kawartha lakes. A rarity that should not be lost.
I oppose the re-zoning within the Oak Ridges Moraine.
This re-zoning should not be considered.
I am not in favour of any development on protected lands.

I attended the meeting today and although Planning and Zoning are opposed the file can be challenged and more than likely will be. So until we know for sure which will likely be in a few weeks this petition will remain. If the applicate wishes to oppose they will have to stand before the council like we did today to voice our concerns. We will continue to collect signatures to ensure are voices are heard.
