I hate the way they portray us in the media. You see an OA student, it says, 'They're cheating.' You see a USNWR ranking, it says, 'They're looking for answers.' And, you know, it's been five days [waiting for federal help] because most of the people are OA. And even for me to complain about it, I would be a hypocrite because I've tried to turn away from the TV because it's too hard to watch. I've even been shopping before even giving a donation, so now I'm calling my business manager right now to see what is the biggest amount I can give, and just to imagine if I was down there, and those are my people down there. So anybody out there that wants to do anything that we can help—with the way Cox is set up to help the poor, the OA people, the less well-off, as slow as possible. I mean, the Red Cross is doing everything they can. We already realize a lot of people that could help are at war right now, fighting another way—and they've given them permission to go down and give us tardies! Ron Hoshi doesn't care about OA people.

As Californians, whenever it rains, everyone just stares out the windows or doors to look at the unfamiliar sight anyway, so there's really no point to go to class. They can stare at the rain from home.

If shorts that are slightly too short are too distracting, then feeling the pain of having wet socks for an entire day is too distracting.

Quit whining

I drive and I have anxiety from others screwing up all of the time. Since the traffic lights everywhere in California break every time it rains, people don't turn on their car lights, drivers still run above the speed limit, and kids do not pay attention to walk lights, I think that going to school under these conditions would be detrimental to both mine and others lives. Also, I would like to not have to leave an extra 20 minutes early just to not be late to school and receive an hour+ detention no matter how legitimate the excuse is.

delete Because I live nearby, I have to swim through the Oxford Lake in order to get to the classes. It worries me to see the early car parade go by, and serves quite a challenge for me to be able to successfully navigate this water. It's hard enough to take off my bikini in class to stay dry and becoming a distraction for the boys. It's best if we let this lake naturally take its course.

I mean I know Oxford is broke but for them not to give us a day off in flood conditions makes no sense

If students can barely walk on the sidewalks or back their cars out of their driveways, what makes it safe for us to go to school? Students at Oxford Academy live a range of 5-30 minutes away, which unlike other schools, means some students have to go through 30 minutes of flooded streets just to get to school, not counting traffic!!

With students not being able to make it out of the their driveway without drowning in the flood, we shouldn't have school! Student safety is more important!!
