We the undersigned demand that North Yorkshire County Council Highways Department refund the £300 fee (3 x £100) they charged the Sunter family for driving three fully licensed and taxed vehicles on Northallerton High Street on Thursday 23rd January 2014 as part of the funeral cortège for Peter Sunter, a well-respected and much loved member of our community.
this is shocking , a mark of respect was being shown to a man that has provided work to many from the area , do they charge the fairthat amount to bring their wagons in and stand for four or more days .

Disgusting. I'm sure if it was a Council member etc., they wouldn't have been fined !! No compassion !! I hope they are ashamed of themselves and refund the money.

What did they do to warrant a fine? A well respected family showing the people of Northallerton a bit of their past, vehicles that were oh so familiar to many. The County Council should have made a special case here and allowed this mark of resppect without penalty.

Considering the amount of prestige, employment and, therefore, money Sunters brought to Northallerton, this is not only disrespectful, it is an insult.

Where is the empathy, respect and common sense? Shameful action to take at such a distressing time!

Disgraceful. NYCC should be ashamed of themselves. Even if they don't give the money back to the family then they should at least give it to a charity of the Sunter familys choice.
