The feedback regarding our state animal has been far more thoughtful than I initially anticipated. I am spending my time researching existing environmental awareness programs to see how a dedicated day might fit into the current calendar of conservation efforts.

Maybe people will stop seeing them as pests once they learn how much they actually help our wetlands keep from flooding. About time.
Good idea. We need to teach the younger generation why these guys are so important to our ecosystem before they just disappear.

YES! My kids would love this. They are obsessed with beavers after seeing a lodge up in the adirondacks last summer.

Finally some love for the state animal. Beavers are amazing engineers and do more for our water than anyone gives them credit for.
