We, the undersigned citizens of the Nyack School District, are disappointed with this year's removal of 8th grade honors algebra from the middle school curriculum offerings. In light of the severe challenges that face students in today's global environment, we urge the district to reinstate the 8th grade honors algebra class for the 2009-2010 school year.
The school board thinks they can quietly gut our curriculum without anyone noticing but this surge of support proves them wrong. They are underestimating the anger of this community and we are just getting started.

not ok! we need to prepare them for high school. putting kids back in standard math is a step backward for everyone.

Keep honors math in middle school. My son worked so hard to get to that level and now the rug is pulled out from under him.

My daughter is bored to tears in her math class. She needs to be challenged or shes just going to lose interest entirely. Bring it back!!

the district is failing these kids. math is way too important to be cutting corners like this.

Seriously? Cutting the one class that actually pushes the high achievers. Makes zero sense.
