The community of Pimville Zone 7 is faced with an unfortunate predicament of Vumatel installing degrading and unsightly poles, that are supposedly for fibre network, in the front of our properties.
As the community we are not opposed to the introduction of Vumatel as an alternative fibre provider, however, we are adamant that no representative of Vumatel will be permitted to dig holes nor install poles at the front of our yards.
It's apparent that Vumatel did not follow due process nor perform a comprehensive feasibility study before implementing their project. Furthermore, the community was not consulted about Vumatel's intention to install poles in front of our yards. Thus far Vumatel's approach smacks of arrogance and bullying, whereas the community is willing to accommodate Vumatel by offering an alternative for Vumatel to use either the existing Telkom lines or underground fibre network infrastructure.
Regardless of what resolution Vumatel takes, we as Pimville Zone 7 Residents, particularly Klamkhlesh street residents, stand in unison and are vehement that WE DO NOT WANT VUMATEL POLES AND WILL NOT PERMIT ANY VUMATEL PERSONNEL TO INSTALL ANY POLES IN OUR YARDS.
Vumatel are forcing other suburbs through their contractors to make use of pole installations without engaging with the community. No to poles in front or in my yard. This further degrades the value of our property and is unsightly. We already have a problem with overhead cable theft on old Telkom poles.
