As citizen taxpayers of North Carolina we did not vote for and do not support HB2. That being the case we object to using our tax money to defend this legislation from the several plaintiffs suing to challenge its legitimacy. If our duly elected state attorney general will not defend the law we should not be forced to pay privately for counsel. Let the legislators who voted for this bill pay to defend it

Updates

April 17, 2016

The state continues to waste taxpayer resources defending a law that does not represent our interests. Email your representative right now to demand they stop using public funds for this legal battle. Post this link on your Facebook page so the people in charge see how many of us reject this expense.

April 17, 2016

The momentum behind this petition is proving that residents are tired of their tax dollars funding legal battles they never asked for. Post our link on Facebook and text three friends who live in North Carolina to keep the pressure on our legislators. You must also call your state representative to demand they stop spending public funds to defend this law.

Please focus on our State's important needs in public education, infrastructure and healthcare instead of these silly measures

I do not agree with this bill but still believing in the government protecting the people, you should be ashamed for passing this through behind closed doors. You knew you were doing something wrong with how expeditiously and secretly you passed this bill.

Repeal this law. North Carolina should not be the standard bearer for discrimination in ANY form. We are better than this.

This bill is mean spirited, heartless, and just plain stupid.
