The military has officially agreed to transfer control of North Field to the National Park Service for restoration and preservation. This achievement belongs to all 561 individuals who advocated for the protection of this historic site. I will continue to monitor the transition to ensure the site receives the stewardship …
PETITION
FOR THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION OF
NORTH FIELD, TINIAN
Northern Mariana Islands
WHEREAS, THE NORTH FIELD ARMY-AIR FORCE BASE ON THE ISLAND OF TINIAN WAS THE SITE OF THE HISTORIC LAUNCH OF THE ATOMIC BOMB ATTACKS ON THE JAPANESE EMPIRE WHICH QUICKLY LED TO THE END OF WORLD WAR II; AND
WHEREAS, NORTH FIELD IS NOW UNDER CONTROL OF THE COMMANDER US NAVY NORTHERN MARIANAS (COMNAVMAR); AND
WHEREAS, NORTH FIELD IS NOT BEING MAINTAINED AND IS RAPIDLY DETERIORATING TO THE POINT OF LOSING THIS HISTORICAL SITE TO FUTURE GENERATIONS,
WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, PETITION COMNAVMAR TO RELEASE CONTROL OF NORTH FIELD TO THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE OR OTHER COMPETENT AUTHORITY FOR THE PRESERVATION AND RESTORATION OF NORTH FIELD AS A HISTORICAL NATIONAL PARK OR MONUMENT FOR THE EDIFICATION OF OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS.
The signature count for the preservation of North Field is approaching the five hundred mark. Reaching this milestone will significantly strengthen our appeal when presenting this proposal to the authorities. Please circulate this petition within your personal networks to help us achieve this goal.

My grandfather was stationed here. It is a disgrace to let such an important part of history just fall apart. Please save it.

This whole place is falling into ruin. Its a piece of history that belongs to everyone not just the military. Give it to the park service ASAP.

Tinian deserves better than this. Restore the site before there is nothing left to see.

Should have been a National Park years ago. The base is an embarrassment right now.
