Hi there fellow residents, I thought I would begin this petition in response to a letter I received from the Clarence Council last week. I am sure all adjoining properties to the vacant block accessed by 15 Dysart street have as well. In short, it is a proposal to rezone the property to enable a development comprising 13 new residences on this internal block. This will also include the construction of a through road between 443 Clifton Beach Road and 15 Dysart Street.
I would urge all residents of Clifton Beach to consult this proposed rezoning/development at http://www.ccc.tas.gov.au/webdata/resources/files/...
I have many issues with this proposed development, but basically I don't think a high density subdivision is in keeping with the ethos of this place we live in or the reason I moved here, and is at odds with the environment I desire my daughter to grow up in.
If you feel the same way I urge you to sign this petition and to contact the Clarence Council with your concerns. The email address to contact the council is [email protected]. If writing is your preferred medium then try PO Box 96, Rosny Park 7018. Alternatively you can contact the Council's Strategic Planner - Dan Ford on (03) 62179547.
The closing date for representations to be made is the 10th of August, so I urge you to act quickly.
If there is enough interest it may be advisable to meet as a group to discuss a way forward.

The response to this reckless rezoning proposal has been massive but the Clarence Council is still acting like they do not hear us. I am spending my time tracking down the developers behind this mess because our coastal community is not for sale.

The momentum behind this petition is proving that the residents of Clifton Beach will not let the Clarence Council ruin our neighborhood. These greedy developers and the bureaucrats facilitating them have underestimated our resolve to protect this land.

Having considered buying this block in the past, the thought of more than two residences/blocks in this space is bizarre. It seems very strange that the council would approve this considering their sustainability obligations to the local coastal environment - the waste water issues alone with the nearby park and oyster farms is a concern.
I oppose this subdivision as it will greatly increase the population of a small significant coastal community that has until now remained basically unchanged for decades. I also believe that the highly reactive clay soil in the area is unsuitable for 13 more septic systems in a small area
Don't over develop this sea side village .. allowing this to happen will eventually allow the rest of the larger allotments to be sub divided, along the same lines what is currently happening in lauderdale after the aged care facility was allowed to subdivide, Now we are seeing prime realestate on lauderdale hill be subdivided !!
Would effect the culture of Clifton Beach being a relatively small community of people who enjoy living out of town and close to the beach. Creating a high density subdivision will be detrimental to not only the environment but also to the residents.
I oppose this proposal on a number of grounds. Increased traffic flow on what is already a sub standard road for the amount of traffic it carries, waste water control, environmental impact and on the basis that this development is not in keeping with the low density seaside environment of the area.

This development proposal is 1) Not wanted; 2) Not needed, and; 3) Not appropriate for Clifton Beach.

If this proposal is allowed and the rezoning maintained despite the councils own advice against it- the park and the residents in Thompson way will be inundated with contaminated septic overflow.
