While I admire Ms Barrow for her accomplishments, is it necessary to take away something so dear to so many people to honor her

Class of January 1965. SSHS has always been a name to be proud of. Now, with the fabulous new academy, the name for this neighborhood institution should continue to be SSHS.

Ridiculous to change a name so revered as South Shore High School further so that it's completely unrecognizable which was related so much to the learning and education that is fast disappearing anyway and needs to be u-turned and stopped along with the pandering to the unsuccessful no-resulters just because they feel they have a sense of entitlement and don't think they have to work for anything.

There is no good reason to change the name of my high school. My mother, Ruth Mackie Strong taught there and she would definitle be opposed to a name change along with my other favorite, now deceased, teachers!

As an alum I can't see why this would be done. We are proud Tars! I didn't approve of Operation Push and never heard of Willie T. Barrow. If you must change the name, pick someone else!

I attended South Shore High School and changing the name to Willie T. Barrow would not reflect the legacy of all alumni.

While change may be inevitable, South Shore High School has undergone a name change already-one which has an honorable shift to the future of the South Shore neighborhood.

I am proud of having graduated from South Shore High School and competed for baseball coach Roger Inman. Name another (new) school Willie T. Barrow and leave the South Shore legacy alone.
