History has an important place in our society and making this change removes this history from our beloved South Shore High School.

Thousands and more have known this as South Shore High School, a name that brings very standards with it. Why attempt to change history...leave it alone!

Keep the name South Shore which has a long and proud heritage. Name the library after Barrow.

South Shore was a landmark in the area. It does seem to be a across move to change the name of other high schools.

I am a proud '62 graduate of South Shore and would be disappointed to see the name changed. I recognize Willie Barrow as an extraordinary woman and believe her name can be placed in some other area, such as a street or park, as she is only associated with Chicago and the South Side after getting married and moving to Chicago.

As a member of the last mid-year graduating CPS class, Jan 1962, I have fond memories and highly value my years at South Shore High School. A name change will lose a part of my history for me and our children. This is very upsetting. There must be another way to honor Willie Barrow, e.g., an auditorium or? Please retain the name of our high school that means so much to many graduates.

South Shore High School has a long history in Chicago. The school has produced notable alumni with major contributions in the arts, science, medicine, law, technology, and sports and entertainment. It also indicates its location in a beautiful neighborhood with excellent parks and transportation. The school's legacy deserves recognition. The name should not be changed.

I do not think my alma mater should have a name change. It changes history & history cannot be changed.

.Class President, Jan.,1961 Don't tarnish the history! There are other things to name for this person that do not have this significance.

I went to South Shore High School and graduated in 1967, I DID NOT ATTEND WILLIE BARROW HIGH SCHOOL or ACADEMY. SHE had NOTHING to do with South Shore and it SHOULD NOT be renamed!!!!!!!!!!
