There are already 3 Tesco metros and one large Tesco within 10 minutes walk of Kennington park as well as a large Tesco in Brixton. We do not need or want any more Tescos in this area!
Local businesses, some of which are long established and some new and thriving - bakers, fruit and veg shop, chemists, newsagents - will all suffer.
A monopoly of Tescos is undesirable for many reasons including the fact that they they employ part-time workers on a minimum wage and do not serve the community in the same way as local shops do. Lambeth Council needs to stronger in its commitment to support small businesses in the area.
Lambeth Council, we urge you to stop the Tesco monopoly and to support local small businesses. We request that you do not proceed with the plans to open two new Tesco stores in Kennington and do not grant permission for any more to open in the area.

keep our high street local. tesco has enough dominance already.
Ridiculous to have so many in one area. The council needs to look after the shopkeepers not big corporations.
PLEASE NO MORE TESCOS. IT WILL DESTROY THE CHARACTER OF STOCKWELL.
Support the mom and pop shops. We already have plenty of places to buy groceries and don't need another generic chain store taking up space.
Enough is enough. My local corner shop is struggling as it is and we definitely dont need another express store on every single street corner!
