This petition is to get support from parents that have kids with sore backs due to hauling around heavy backpacks.  Since they don't have lockers they are forced to carry too many books and is hard on their backs.

Updates

My own son came home yesterday barely able to stand straight because of the weight of his bag. I am currently working on drafting a formal proposal for the school board to address why lockers remain off-limits to students. Hearing your stories about your own children suffering in the same way only confirms that this is a fight we have to win.

Seeing so many parents agree that these heavy books are hurting our children is truly overwhelming. It fills me with hope to know we are finally forcing this issue into the light.

Totally agree. Kids are going to have major back problems by the time they hit high school if this keeps up. Let them have lockers or at least let them leave the heavy books at school.

My son literally complains about his shoulders hurting every single day after school. why are these text books so heavy in 2019? digital books should be used instead.

My daughter is tiny and that bag is almost taller than she is. Ridiculous.
