Dr. Hufnagel has been advocating for patient health rights for decades and will be an asset to both patients and to the committee.
I want to see change in the FDA.
Background: The FDA/CDRH has created a new advisory committee to serve as a watchdog with the FDA and CDRH.
Dr. Vikki G Hufnagel, MD has been nominated to serve on this committee and seeks your support in her nomination.
The Committee may advise CDRH on the following topics:
- Agency guidance and policies
- clinical trial or registry design
- patient preference study design
- benefit-risk determinations
- device labeling
- unmet clinical needs
- available alternatives
- patient reported outcomes
- device-related quality of life or health status issues

I have been digging through the archives of FDA procedural documents lately and it is honestly wild how much bureaucracy is in the way of simple patient advocacy. My inbox is filling up with messages from people who just want to be listened to for once and I am trying to keep track of everything while making sure Dr Hufnagel gets the recognition she deserves for this role.

I really did not think this would gain this much steam so fast because honestly some days it feels like yelling into a void but reading through what you all have to say makes me think maybe the tide is actually turning. It is wild to see people realizing how much we need someone like Dr. Hufnagel pushing for real change inside that massive bureaucratic machine. I am just trying to keep up with the notifications while I drink my third cup of coffee and try to wrap my head around the fact that there are this many of us wanting the same thing.

We need someone like her who actually listens to us. The fda is way too cozy with the manufacturers.
Dr hufnagel is the only one who has ever helped me after my procedure went wrong. please make this happen
Finally someone who knows what is really going on with these dangerous devices. Put her on the board!

Vikki G. Hufnagel is no longer and doctor and had her license revoked. Check the internet regarding her record. It doesn't look too good. In June 2004, the Medical Board of California denied the petition of Vicki Hufnagel, M.D., to reinstate her medical license. In 1989 the medical board revoked Hufnagel's license on grounds of "incompetence, gross negligence, dishonesty, false billings and medical records, and repeated acts of clearly excessive use of diagnostic procedures in her care and treatment of six patients." However, the revocation was delayed until she lost her final court appeal in 1996. In 2003, she applied for reinstatement of her license. During the interim, she had stopped practicing medicine in California but continued to advise people and had performed at least ten operations at a Mexican clinic to which she referred patients. In 2004, in the document shown below, an Administrative Law Judge concluded that Hufnagel had "not exercised good judgment by electing to do surgeries on patients in Mexico and cannot be said to be rehabilitated from her earlier unprofessional conduct." Her medical licenses in New York and Hawaii have also been revoked. Hufnagel's Web site represents her as a "pioneer in advancing women's medicine and crusader for reproductive health rights and female reconstructive surgery." Her 1988 book No More Hysterectomies advocated unsubstantiated reconstructive procedures that she claimed would avoid the need for a hysterectomy.

Please make it mandatory in all states for women considering tubal ligation to have to undergo a psychological consult and a waiting period. Too many women are having this procedure done and then regretting it immediately thereafter.
