To whom it may concern: It has been brought to our attention that the possibility of a lottery registration system has been taken under consideration for the Anime Los Angeles 2011 Artists' Alley. Considering that the convention is only a few months away, we feel that that the idea of someone else being in control of whether or not we will be selected in a drawing that cannot be guaranteed to be 100% completely random and un-tampered with will not eliminate the possibility of favoritism whatsoever. In fact, we believe it will add to the sense of it. There is no way for us to know that names will not be added, omitted, cast over or ignored as they are being drawn. This is not nearly as fair nor as indisputable as a First Come, First Serve system. What's more, changing the system so radically this late in the year with such short notice will alienate the veteran artists that are accustomed to a First Come First Served system that has been in place from the start of ALA's AA. We ask to at least keep registration as first come first serve for this upcoming convention (ALA 2011) and if the system is to be changed so drastically that this change be put off until ALA 2012 with more notice to the artists. Thank you for your time.
