As concerned UCI Students we are standing up against the voices of hate brought to our campus. We affirm and support the right of free speech and political discourse but oppose hate speech and bigotry brought to our campus community to create controversy.
We have spoken out against the Islamophobic and hateful message of Pastor Terry Jones on our campus last December and for the same reason of opposing hate and bigotry we are speaking out against the reappearance of Malik Ali on May 8th of this year.
Malik Ali has spoken at similar events at UCI in the past and has proven to be incapable of delivering his political message without using hate speech and anti-Semitic remarks. This is not acceptable and we urge all students to show that the University of California, Irvine is not a place for such rhetoric.
We have opposed hate speech and bigotry in the past and will not stand for it on Tuesday or in the future.
We are from different religions, ethnicities, political views and beliefs but we have one thing in common, we will not support hate speech on our campus.

We are currently preparing a formal letter to the university administration detailing our specific concerns regarding the upcoming event. I am scheduling a briefing with student representatives to coordinate our formal response for Tuesday.

The administration has acknowledged the volume of this petition and requested a formal meeting to discuss our primary concerns. We are currently preparing a briefing packet that outlines the specific history of hate speech incidents we intend to address.

Free speech is one thing but this guy just spews pure hate. We are better than this.
finally someone doing something about it. tired of walking on campus and feeling unwelcome because of these hate groups. keep it up.
UCI is supposed to be about education not hearing garbage like this. Keep this toxicity off our campus.
Glad to see people standing up for our community. No room for this bigotry at UCI.
Ridiculous that this clown is allowed back. We have enough problems without people spreading hate speech for attention.
