Longtime MMU boys varsity soccer coach Phil Jacobs is fighting to keep the job he has held for almost 3 decades after not receiving a contract for the 2017 fall season. Phil was part of MMU's first class as a seventh grader in 1967. He had hoped to celebrate his final year to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the school. School administrators will not provide a reason for not offering a contract. Phil deserves to coach for ONE MORE YEAR and retire with respect and his dignity. Please support Phil by signing this petition and asking our administrators to do the right thing. We would like to thank everyone in our community and the MMU alumni for standing behind Phil.

We are approaching 250 signatures and will use this total to formally request a meeting with the school administration. Please direct this link to current faculty members who can help us secure a sit-down session with the board. I am currently drafting a letter outlining the specific concerns regarding the lack of transparency in the contract renewal process.

We are approaching the one hundred signature mark which serves as the threshold for my formal request for a meeting with the administration. Please send the link to five people in your network right now so we hit that target today.

I can't believe the School Administrators think their actions are in the best interests of the students. Their actions teach the worse, heartless decision making and behavior to students. I feel let down by our school reps and system. Of course Phil deserves one more year!
MMU has done a relative good job over the years of developing COMMUNITY over the 5 town district. Allowing Phil to coach one more season (4 months) is a powerful way to show the MMU Administration that loyalty and community is important. Jim Carter
My husband was Gatorade Player of the Year for Vermont in 1995-1996 under Coach Phil Jacobs. That just proves how great he is! I believe he deserves his last requested year!
I am an 1972 alumni of MMU. I don't know the details of this whole deal but it looks like a good time for the administrators to do the right thing and renew his contract. 1 more year!!
I played for Phil in the 90s including his last year of JV. I have not stayed in contact with the soccer program in the last 20 years, but I have a hard time imagining a man as kind as him doing anything that would necessitate ending his coaching career one year earlier that his plan.
If the team wants him, he should stay! They're the only ones who matter!
Great soccer player, loved watching the games, all around great person, GO PHIL!

Hopeful that the right decision will be made. Phil is a longstanding member of this community and a devoted coach who deserves to have his final year at MMU. It is disheartening that he even needs to be "fighting" for this honor after all he has done for the program.
