The XU Main Campus in Divisoria is a part of the heritage of all Kagay-anons and the people of Northern Mindanao. XU can raise funds for the expansion of its campuses through other means. But to dispose part of the Main Campus is just like turning our back on cherished history for the sake of short-sighted convenience.
XUHS ‘76 Pls. preserve the historic significance and legacy of the XU main campus. It’s already a heritage and iconic landmark to the residents, alumni, and communities of Cagayan de Oro City.
creating pockets of commerce and trade will not create a healthy community. rather, it further divides and alienates the poor who should not be subject of trickle down economics.
Decongestion does not imply destruction of existing structures. It means expanding capacity by building new site/s to absorb the overflow of population. Destroying much of the main campus only to be replaced by commercial/residential units defies the logic of the objective.
I'm not in favor of selling the university campus in Divisoria bec. Uptown area is too crowded and no alternative road is construct. At this moment Uptown area is very congested already.
Preserve the XU Cultural Heritage buildings :Science Center, The Library , The XU Chapel, Lucas Hall structure bldgs The Museum as these bldgs are over 50 years in existence as already recognized by (NHCP) National Historical Commission of the Phiks and in 2033 during the Centennial Year of Xavier University Ateneo de Cagayan The NHCP shall official place the markings in each said cultural heritage XU bldgs.

But Ateneo de Davao which is at the heart of the city opted to stand on its ground and chose to build upward. Xavier is at the heart of the city.It stands as a symbol of excellence and of the social mission to be men and women for others. Can you imagine its beautiful grounds, trees and architectural heritage give way to a noisy, commercialized mall?
