This Petition should only be signed by dentists in the United States. By signing this petition, you are demanding that the American Dental Association (ADA) exits the "compromise agreement" dental-loss-ratio framework it inappropriately agreed to with Dental Insurers (National Association of Dental Plans).
This petition also officially (and respectfully) informs ADA administrators that they have failed their fiduciary responsibilities by violating the official House of Delegates (HOD) policy (shown in the picture), which requries a "specific loss ratio." Instead, by agreeing to the NCOIL framework, they adopted a "roving loss ratio" and insurance definitions that severely harm patients.
Furthermore, by violating this HOD policy (and pursuant to corporate law) the ADA has violated its legal contract with "the members" and is responsible for what will result in Billions of dollars annually in "damages" due to mis-directed oral health funds (which the NCOIL frawework directs to insurer profits, rather than patient care claims).
On behalf of a nation of patients and dentists, we demand that the ADA immediately exit the NCOIL agreement (prior to its April 11th ratification) until (and only in the event) the ADA receives approval from "the members" (represented by the HOD) to alter the current Policy on Dental Loss Ratio.
Respectfully written - The Practicing Dentists of the United States

The ADA administrators are clearly crossing their fingers and hoping we stop paying attention to their backdoor deal with dental insurers. We are approaching one thousand signatures and need to hit that mark now to show them their betrayal of the House of Delegates policy will not be ignored.

The ADA administrators are still hiding behind this pathetic NCOIL compromise while our patients suffer the consequences. They think they can ignore the House of Delegates and our legal objections but we are prepared to hold them fully accountable for this betrayal.

The ADA administrators are betting that we will lose steam and let them hand our autonomy over to the insurers. We are approaching one hundred signatures and we need to push past this mark to prove these cowards that we are watching their every move.

Let's use a clear specific DLR, similar to the Massachusetts language. The current NCOIL definition allows too much manipulation to increase the reported DLR.
I fought for the REAL QUESTION 2 in Massachusetts. MY ADA IS NOW TRYING TO KILL OUR EFFORTS. WHO IS BEING PAID OFF BY THE INSURANCE COMPANIES???
We cannot compromise on this as it will affect our patients who are our #1 priority. We cannot have insurance companies have a loophole on their reporting. There needs to be full transparency for the most accurate DLR.
I'm sorry that ADA policy and governance structure did not allow staff the negotiating room they felt they needed, but policy needs to be followed and the NCOIL language that the ADA agreed to does not reflect the will of the House of Delegates.
The ADA needs to retract the compromise that was hastily agreed to. It’s a detriment to the future of enforcing a dental loss ratio nationwide.

Thank you for helping hold insurance companies to a higher standard. As members of representative organizations, we should expect representation that mirrors its membership, not yields to groups that have fought us at every turn.
