I totally agree. In addition I believe impact fees should be impose rather than developer fees that may in fact at the end of the day be illegal. Thus no money coming in for schools infrastructure etc. This burden cannot fall again on the homeowner va more taxes.

with so many buildings at the same time how is it possible for regular citizens to challenge anything. Isn't that why we elected council members to protect livability and forward reasonable plans for low income opportunities.

I strongly support the goal of this petition. I'd also suggest emailing the members of our council who seem to be determined to increase the population of LFP as a way of increasing the tax base. Those who seem most committed to this approach are Mayor Jeff Johnson and Council Members Catherine Stanford, Tom French and John Resha.

The wholesale destruction of our neighborhoods benefits only one group of people; developers. Frequently owned by foreign investors, the destruction of single family homes and the subsequent cookie cutter apartments make our neighborhoods less affordable. In addition, the destruction of our tree canopy and yards is turning Seattle into an ecological wasteland.

The mayor supports developers for his own political, re-election purposes. If he were serious, then why is there no rent control, parking spaces for multifamily units, Vancouver-like taxes on foreign(Chinese) property/housing purchases. Murray is a fraud!!!

Presently, there is little in the HALA program that benefits anyone but the developers -- only a few lucky low-income renters may get a break. In the meantime, homeowners and renters suffer the consequences of barely regulated densification and gentrification without any mitigation. Who benefits here? And why do we want all this growth during a time of low unemployment when people coming here could find jobs in multiple cities without the high costs? Who benefits here? Again it seems mostly developers and the city taking in massive fees and yet taking away parking that benefits small businesses. HALA has been duped by magical-thinking urbanists who are convinced that achieving efficiency at all costs is more important than achieving real liveability, community, and involved self-governing neighborhoods that dare to stand up to the autocracy of the mayor and his self-appointed "yes" people. Enough with this. Isn't Trump enough?

And...what about parking, you idiots? You think everyone walks , rides a bike or takes an occasional bus? That infrastructure is WAY behind the needs to do away with parking!

forcing families out of their neighborhoods and their 100 year old well built homes that they have sweat blood and tears to pay off and giving builders rights to just come in and tear everything down to build gingerbread houses that they will charge high rents for is criminal and unamerican !!!!we need to put our foot down to preserve the Wallingford neighborhood that we love !!!! And keep the power in our hands as individual owners !!!!!!!we need to stop selling Seattle off to greedy individuals !!!!!!!

Our streets are being turned into canyons. Less and less trees, grass and gardens. Who exactly is defining live ability? Also, very few units are being built that can accommodate families. Most are one bedroom or smaller. Those wanting families will leave the city taking their incomes, taxes with them and will need to commute back into the city on an in adequate transportation system. HALA upzones are being driven by developers rather than the needs of citizens.
