Chemours is a company that is currently responsible for the production of GenX, A chemical replacement for a key ingredient in Teflon linked to cancer and a host of other ailments. It has been found in the drinking water system of the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA), which cannot filter it.
In October of 2016 the permit for Chemours to continue production in NC came up for renewal. This petition is to ask the NC DEQ and EPA to reject their request for renewal and in turn cease the production of this chemical and its subsequent release into our drinking water.

I think if chemours is SO confident that wilmington nc water is within safe limits, their CEO and board members won't have any problems refilling their water coolers with our local tap water....enjoy.
We cannot trade upon the quality of our drinking water. If Chemours cannot or will not describe their compounds completely and guarantee to keep them out of our water supply then they must be denied a permit.
We need to protect our community from this known cancer causing toxin. Do not ruin this area we all love and cherish. Life is greater than money let's stop this evil from happening right now! The people of the cape fear region do not deserve to become the next flint, let's stop this now.
My cousin is a retired chemist from DuPont. She says RO can't filter this out and high level particulate filters can only help but not remove entirely. I desperately want to move to ILM, but not until this is resolved! The city is going to lose a lot of money over this until they fix this mess.
What about the water fountain in the schools no one thinks about. I have young kids that have been drinking this water for years now. I don't want them drinking contaminated water under any circumstances.
Stop Chemours… if they have $$ to expand they should put that $$ towards clean up and correction of them deadly chemicals they have poured into our waters
To say I'm concerned about our water is an understatement! My son Richard W Rozanski was born in 2013 and was formula feed, so obliviously everyone I made a bottle for him he was ingesting extremely contaminated water!!! We pay for our water and now we are spending more money that I know I don't have to buy bottles water to drink, give to my animals, cool with and brush our teeth. Every time we shower the water absorbs into our skin, into our children's skin!!! I'm beyond scared of what the future holds for our health after injesting etc this Extremely contaminated water!! I pray my family, especially my son will not suffer from this!! I am just sicked by this entire situation!!

It is unethical and unconscionable to knowingly emit bioaccumulative, hormone disrupters into the water system that I've trusted to provide me and my family safe, clean water - permit or not.
