The council backed down and the school project at the hospital site is dead. Thank you for stepping up to stop this. Now we focus on getting that medical center built.

We wholeheartedly object to the construction of a 2000 pupil school on a site which is over 5 times too small according to the Education Funding Agency - who have expressed a preference for a site in Rose Hill. The forecast for secondary school place demand centres around the north of the borough so we object as well to thousands of children being dragged out to the very south of the borough unnecessarily, hence causing congestion and gridlock, and to a school which is not likely to have much outside space for them either.

Please sign our second petition about what the £8M land should be used for instead:

The area cannot cope with MORE traffic. No where for residents visitors to park. Also no room for pedestrians, coming and going morning or afternoons,as pavements are not adequate for volume of pedestrians that will be using a school.A ridiculous idea!!

The Sutton Hospital site is unsuitable for a high school due to it's size. However, it would be the ideal location for the new medical cente, rather than the ill-conceived Henderson Hospital site. Please make the right decision for the benefit of local residents and not just for political gains.

It is illogical to add yet another secondary school to the outskirts of the borough. - especially as Overton and Stanley Park are so close. The site should concentrate on medical issues, including the proposed new Belmont Health Centre.

Educational attainment is influenced by surroundings. A cramped environment on a small site is unlikely to achieve good educational outcomes. The surrounding roads are inadequate and already congested.

I oppose the building of a new school due to site too small, high buildings spoiling the Belmont landscape and also the Rosehill site is far more suitable particularly in regard to transport availability (buses) and sporting amenities

It should be remembered that Sutton Council said that they would go along with the site chosen by the EFA and Greenshaw. Now they are going back on their word, putting a spin on a diabolical decision which will adversely affect the education of our children.

Building a new school on a site with inadequate outside facilities when there is an obesity epidemic amongst school children is irresponsible when there is a site on Rose Hill that can provide for those needs. It will also create more traffic congestion and pollution as demand for new places is in the north of the borough. What happened to Sutton's green policies?
